Http://woodfloorconservancy.org/wood-... floorwright wood floor repair instructional video shows the floorwright's apprentice how to visually repair a board that. Masonite sheets were stapled on top so there are heaps of staple marks. will they look better left or putty them? at the moment the dust is filling the staple holes and gaps and looks good, could i just wipe over with a damp cloth and then varnish would the dust stay in sort of like putty?. Hi, i'm putting putty in between the jarrah floorboards in my house. i'm using selleys "no more cracks" wood filler but it's way too light, nothing like the colour on the container..
This method involves forcing in the filler as far as possible with a putty knife, then sanding to the level of the flooring after the filler has hardened. in most cases, this is not a good option. the surrounding floorboards will shift and eventually start to pull away from the filler, cracking it.. Along with that, because the putty was so full of moisture to make it that runny it also stands to reason that the edges of the boards will take in water and therefore swell themselves. once the boards dry out and shrink back to their original size it only adds to the problem of the putty failing.. Tongue and groove floorboards were first introduced but certainly by the late 1820s some tongue and groove floorboards were being imported putty or timber plugs a tongue and groove floor can only be sanded a few times before the groove becomes exposed or the board loses its.
